The pendant is fine silver with 23.5ct gold fused to the surface using the ancient Korean technique, Keum Bo, meaning ‘gold applied’. A permanent molecular bond is achieved using heat and hand applied pressure. The hand-made catch is easily secured by lining up the gaps on opposing sides of the cube and tower shapes to interlink. The shadow illusion is created by hand-painting a solution that oxidises the surface of the silver to a lustrous black.
Overall, the necklace is 54cm long. The pendant is 55mm tall x 12m wide and 1.1mm thick.
