The Ring Cycle…
I conceived ‘The ring Cycle’ in 2015 as a means by which I might satisfy the concept-led strand of my practice. It is an occasional, ongoing series of exuberant, narrative rings based on words that end in ‘-ring’. I have a long list of possible words taped to the studio wall and at the moment I’m mulling over ideas for ‘Wondering’.
‘Powdering’, fine silver, 22ct gold leaf, silk velvet and satin powder puff, translucent powder.
‘Colouring’, fine silver, gold solder, colouring pencils. This piece comes with a complete set of colour pencils so that the pencils may be changed as desired to co-ordinate with an outfit. The ring is made in two parts, and the act of wearing it keeps the pencils secure.
On display at Sieraad Art Fair, Amsterdam, 2017. L - R: Feathering No2, Conkering, Towering, Colouring, Conjuring, Powdering, Flowering and Wandering.
The latest addition to ‘The Ring Cycle’ is ‘Pouring’.
